Objectives

Read Easy Birmingham South West is a local group affiliated to Read Easy UK.  We aim to improve adult literacy in our area by offering free, one to one coaching.

Activities

2.4 million adults in England alone cannot read at all or can barely read. Read Easy's aim is for all adults in the UK to have the literacy skills they need to fulfil their potential and live life to the full. Read Easy volunteer Reading Coaches meet twice a week with their Reader, at a mutually convenient location and, more recently, online.  This highly-structured programme has already made an impact on the lives of local people.  We have adults who are now able to carry out day to day tasks that many take for granted.  Adults are able to apply for jobs that otherwise would not have been available to them.  For the first time, some adults can now read to their children.  This newly created Management Team post is necessary to support the Management Team, Reading Coaches and Readers.
