Raystede is your local animal welfare charity in the South East of England, based in central Sussex and working throughout the region.
Raystede cares for over 2,000 animals a year, rehoming over 1,000 animals annually and providing long-term sanctuary to even more. The charity cares for an unusually wide range of animal species.
The charity aims to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary, and to give people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect.
Raystede rehomes a wide range of pets and farm animals. By rehoming we include animal rescue, people who ask us to take animals and people who kindly rehome animals. We offer an excellent rehoming experience.
Our charity site in Sussex creates an opportunity to get close to the charity by seeing some of our rehoming work and also animals which cannot be rehomed, cared for in our Raystede sanctuary.
We offer all our rehomers, supporters, customers and visitors the opportunity to learn about animals and their needs.
Raystede is totally reliant on public support, especially legacies, donations, fundraising and retail - we receive no grants, Lottery money or government funding. We also run Peaceways which is one of the UK's first pet crematorium operations which supports hundreds of pet-owners each year at a very difficult time.
