Objectives and activities:

  • To advance public education in the local history of the East End of London and the Ragged School Movement through the provision of a public museum and educational activities on-site at 46, 48 & 50 Copperfield Road
  • To preserve and maintain the buildings
  • To involve members of the local community in the running of the museum.

Specifically the Trust aims to:

  • Provide children, teachers, and families with an understanding of the life of the Victorian poor.
  • Ensure that visits are enjoyable, inspirational and interactive.

Activities

The Museum’s Schools Programme, Volunteer Programme, and Audience Engagement activity continue to support the core objectives of the Museum through the provision of onsite KS1-2 school visits, and volunteer opportunities (Learning volunteers, Front of House volunteers, and Events volunteers). The latter will be advertised in due course.

The Ragged School Museum benefits local and wider communities; Students (all ages), specialist and non-specialist groups, volunteers, families, and the visiting public.
