Objectives

The Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of the Redsand Towers Sea Fort, Thames Estuary, for the benefit of the public and to advance the education of the public about its history.

The Sea Fort has been designated by the DCMS as "a building of historical importance" an ingenious structure built during WW2 in order to defend London and merchant shipping in the Thames Estuary. The Fort is deteriorating rapidly and needs to be saved.

Activities

The Trust has 5 Trustee's and 22 volunteers who carry out maintenance work at the Sea Fort on a regular basis. The Trust also provides historical information about the Sea Forts to schools and universities and in particular, the Trust hosted an inspirational event at a school for children with learning difficulties. The Trust has provided public exhibitions in and around Kent. The Trust is regularly seeking financial support from large companies for the restoration of these unique structures of historical importance.
