Objectives

About us:

Priority Area Playgroups is a registered children's charity that provides high quality play and learning opportunities to disadvantaged children of pre-school age and their families across Birmingham. The charity was initially founded after it was identified that parents from disadvantaged backgrounds across Birmingham were neither understanding nor being taught about the importance of play during a child’s pre-school years. Furthermore, because of this lack of understanding significant lack of opportunities for these families, their children were entering school at a severe disadvantage due to severe underdevelopment of particular skills such as verbal communication, reading and writing.

Priority Area Playgroups was founded to address these problems by providing full time day care which provided high quality play opportunities for children of those disadvantaged families enabling them to meet crucial developmental milestones as well as working closely with parents to help them further support their child’s development.

Activities

What we do:

We as a charity aim to ensure all our children in our care (from the ages of 0 to 5), develop and achieve their full potential through play, whilst supporting their families during this crucial developmental time. We endeavour to do this by working hard to create a stimulating, caring and safe environment within all our nurseries and preschools, working with parent’s in an open an honest way ensuring that each child is developing appropriately and is prepared for school life when they leave us, and creating an appropriate curriculum for each individual child; taking into account need’s arising from race, culture language and religion.
