Prickles Hedgehog Rescue is a charity based in Cheddar, Somerset that cares for poorly, injured and orphaned hedgehogs.
Hedgehogs are a protected species, in the 1970’s it was estimated that there were 30 million hedgehogs in the UK, recent research suggest there are only 1.4 million left.
Prickles have successfully cared for over 2500 hedgehogs and the majority of have been released back to the wild. We are proud of our 94% success rate with this complex little mammal.
At Prickles we pride ourselves in the high success rate in treating and rehabilitating hedgehogs that come into our care with life threatening illnesses or injuries. Our policy is to properly assess each patient, to seek veterinary advice when required and to consult with other specialists throughout the country who are advanced in the treatment of this small mammal.
Based in Cheddar, we take in hedgehogs from across Somerset, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and the surrounding Mendip area and are available 24/7 for emergencies.
