Objectives

Local beneficiaries are the communities of Preston/Kenton/Barnhill wards in the London Borough of Brent. We are planning to restore the library service and community space which were lost with the closure of Preston Library in 2011. The closure has meant that many local people - especially elderly and young people - now have very limited or no access to a library; this is the situation which we are aiming to remedy.

Activities

Whilst campaigning for the return of our library, we have run a very small lending library and a series of book-related events, and we currently run ESOL classes and creative writing groups on one afternoon a week.. We are now preparing a bid to take over the library building. In addition to the core library service we plan to offer a cafe, exhibition space and community cinema, a variety of classes and space for a range of other community activities.
