Objectives

We are a mental health charity specialising in the training and delivery of behavioural therapy treatments. Our service users mainly self-refer for psychotherapy and are from low to mid-income groups defined as receiving social support to max income of £40k. We charge a nominal fee that is based on the service-user’s income level. The fee levels are £5, £15 and £26. We treat conditions such as depression, different types of anxiety disorders, relationship issues and PTSD. We offer up to 13 weekly sessions to our clients. It is hard to find CBT or behavioural therapy outside of NHS that is affordable to the majority, and NHS is currently experiencing high waiting time. Our service offers third wave CBT, which place emphasis on building behavioural changes.

Activities

Our volunteer therapists are postgraduate psychology and psychotherapy students who volunteer in our organisation for clinical experience in specialist behavioural treatments. They have to undergo an 8-week training course to provide the treatment to a safe standard.

Our CEO also runs professional therapist training courses which brings in additional income for the charity. Our mission to invest in therapist skills in line with advancements in psychological research and skills, allows our service-users to benefit from the most effective treatment.

We offer weekly supervision and continuous training in treatment skills throughout the year which volunteers access for free.

Our charity’s mission is also to increase social connection in society so we run fortnightly social connection groups that anyone can join – this is promoted on meetup.com and on our website. We encourage our service-users to join the group as well.
