Objectives

PMLD LINK is a small, not-for profit charity. It produces a high quality journal for practitioners and carers working with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) of all ages and in all situations.

Activities

The PMLD LINK journal is published three times a year and covers a wide range of topics which are of interest and practical relevance to families and practitioners in schools, colleges, adult provision, in the home, and many other settings. The journal aims to cross professional boundaries and reach diverse services for children and adults with PMLD. It enables readers to keep up to date, develop wider networks and provides a forum for contact with others involved in the field.

The journal is a grass roots publication and the editors welcome written contributions from families, practitioners, researchers and supporters in all settings. The contributions may be

  • short articles
  • information sharing and signposting to relevant research, policy and resources
  • news and personal stories about people with PMLD
  • requests from readers for particular information.

PMLD LINK also uses Twitter and Facebook to keep followers up to date with news and development regarding the journal, and also to share relevant news and information. You can access these via the buttons on our website.

The PMLD LINK team is made up of volunteers who are family carers, practitioners and academics from education, health, and social care or from training and voluntary organisations across the UK. The journal production and other maintenance costs are funded entirely by donations and subscriptions to the journal.
