Objectives

Plastic Free Peckham is an award-winning volunteer group of local residents, working with Peckham schools, businesses and Southwark Council to rid our community of single use plastic. We are part of Plastic Free Communities: a nationwide network launched by Surfers Against Sewage to tackle single use plastic – from beaches and green spaces all the way back to the brands and businesses who use it. We are among over 850 communities united in the fight against plastic pollution.

Activities

We’re working to reduce the amount of plastic we all rely on so much. It’s not about removing all plastic from our lives. It’s about kicking our addiction to avoidable single-use plastic, and changing the system that produces it. We do this by educating local school communities and small businesses about the impacts of plastic, and other options available to them. Our parent charity, Surfers Against Sewage, is also working to remove single use plastic at its source, by lobbying government and chain supermarkets.
