We are a social enterprise that teaches people experiencing homelessness to design, make and sell jewellery, whilst providing coaching and financial support. We have developed a system of manufacture which allows our jewellery to be made domestically (without using fire), and therefore a really flexible employment solution for those that struggle to access work.
We teach people through our programmes which are designed to help individuals grow in confidence and gain useful skills with the end goal of moving out of temporary accommodation and into independent living and employment. We also help other services to set up their own programmes and run ad-hoc training sessions with homelessness services. We fund our social mission by selling the jewellery made on our programmes, with 80% of our revenue coming from traded income in our first year.
Since starting last year in 2020, we've worked with 29 makers across 4 homelessness services, providing over 750 hours of worked-based training, and 100 hours of 1-1 coaching and support.
In order to continue running our makers programmes successfully and increase our impact further, we ensure that the sale of the product made is generated. In 2021, we have been focusing on getting our name out there and increasing our sales by means of attending craft markets, as well as collaborating pop-ups with Crisis UK. We are trying to create a team of dedicated volunteers to help us in running the market stalls as we wish to aim to decrease our core costs and use the sales generated to go directly back into the hostel programmes.
