The Pink Singers is a fun, friendly LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans+) choir based in London. Now in our 40th year, we are Europe's longest running LGBT choir. We have grown and blossomed into a group of over 90 singers since we were first formed on 7 April 1983 for the Lesbian & Gay Pride march in London. At that time, the age of consent was still unequal and AIDS had barely reached the political agenda.
Our beneficiaries include our 100+ active members, former members, our audiences and the wider LGBT+ community both in the UK and overseas.
At our core, we are essentially a community choir, made up of incredibly talented people from a diverse range of sexual orientations, gender identities and backgrounds united by a passion for singing great choral music.
We perform two main London concerts each year, numerous smaller concerts and sing with other choirs around the UK and the world.
We support the LGBT+ community and raise funds for a nominated charity which this year is London Friend.
We are an active part of the UK and international LGBT+ community. For example in 2017-18 we ran a year long project to highlight LGBT rights in India, in partnership with India’s first ever LGBT choir, Rainbow Voices Mumbai. This involved us visiting India as well as fundraising for Rainbow Voices to visit and perform with us in London.
Our members have been involved in setting up and running UK and international LGBT+ choir festivals.
