About Us

PhoenixPlace provides specialist education and support for young girls aged 11-16 in Southwark and neighbouring boroughs who have special educational needs as well as attachment and mental health issues.  These are often vulnerable trauma victims marginalised by our education system and society.

Activities

 PhoenixPlace works with schools, local authorities and external organisations to reduce the number of girls at risk of permanent exclusion or who are not in education.  Through dedicated specialist staff we provide a unique therapeutic environment with an inclusive, aspirational curriculum that allows them to feel safe and thrive.

 We assess individual student needs and provide bespoke holistic programmes that invests in them to enable improved;

  • engagement with the world,

  • personal development and emotional literacy,

  • awareness and appreciation of others,

  • self worth and social capital,

  • confidence and the ability to trust others.

Progress in addressing personal needs leads to improved attendance, behaviour, achievement and academic success, all of which allows them to move on to further education and training and employment opportunities.

 PhoenixPlace heads into 2020 with an exciting programme to continue our transformational work to expand our reach and capabilities.

 Supported by our partners we will move to bigger premises, enhance our curriculum offer including a 6th form provision and develop and deliver community programmes that will reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour and gang involvement, improve intergenerational communication and trust, deliver better life choices and outcomes for students, staff, the community and society in general.
