  • Partnership We will work in partnership with statutory agencies, charities, community groups and sister organisations to achieve our mission.
  • Passion We will work with passion to support victims of gender-based violence.
  • Empowerment We will empower victims to take back control of their lives.
  • Impartiality We will work in a non-judgemental and non-discriminatory way where everyone is welcomed and valued.
  • Peterborough We will provide specialist services tailored to the needs of the Peterborough community and surrounding areas.

Activities

We know that to make a lasting difference to the survivors of gender-based violence, we must offer a wide range of services that encompass the needs of the Peterborough community and surrounding areas.  Peterborough Women’s Aid are committed to a whole system approach; prevention, awareness and intervention.  Our strategic objectives reflect our passion to expand our services, ensuring all survivors have access to support.

Increase and improve our offer of safe accommodation.

  • Upgrading and making the existing refuge more accessible.
  • Aim to provide more privacy for victims such as ensuite bathroom space instead of shared bathrooms.
  • Aim to secure additional properties to provide safe accommodation to victims who may not fit the standard model including; transgender victims and families where there is a male child over the age of 13 years.

Expand our remit to include all strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and not just Domestic Abuse.

  • Ensuring all staff are trained in the different strands of VAWG, including; Sexual Violence, Harassment, Stalking, Honour Based Violence, Child Sexual Exploitation, Modern Day Slavery, Gender based Gang Violence and Female Genital Mutilation.
  • Create and provide specialist posts to meet the needs of the Peterborough Community.
  • Deliver a package of preventative work across Peterborough to raise awareness of the different areas of VAWG.

Aim to become less reliant on statutory funding by increasing and diversifying our income.
