Objectives

The Personal Best Foundation is a new charity (not yet publicly launched), established to provide children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and communities with the opportunity to participate and reach their full potential in athletics, breaking down social inequalities and improving their health and wellbeing.

Affiliated to and supported by England Athletics (the National Governing Body for Athletics in England), the Personal Best Foundation was incorporated in February 2022 and has an application pending with the Charity Commission for Registered Charity status.

Activities

The Personal Best Foundation will work across three strategic priorities:

Schools: To ensure that children from under-represented and disadvantaged communities are able to develop their fundamental movement skills of running, jumping and throwing

Community and clubs: To support clubs and local organisations to reach out to, engage with and support disadvantaged young people within their own communities to become more physically active through athletics.

Young Leaders: Providing young people with the opportunity to access subsidised training opportunities to pursue coaching and other athletics qualifications that otherwise may be unobtainable due to financial barriers.
