Objectives

Pennyhooks offers specialised support to up to 50 young people with complex autism, within a rural setting on a traditional small farm.Often it is hard for them to show what they can learn & achieve; our main aim is to provide meaningful work training & opportunities to them . We use the farm to give them a chance to develop their work skills & as much independence as possible, working together as supportive co-workers in all we do. Our activities include ; animal husbandry, conservation, horticulture, cooking,& home skills, rural craft & woodwork. Their products are sold at our Open Days & in our small on- site shop. This in turn, enables them to make a meaningful contribution to their local community & to develop purposeful adult lives, which sadly is otherwise often denied them through lack of appropriate facilities & opportunities...

Activities

Our emphasis at Pennyhooks is on creating the right environment for our young people with complex autism to thrive; our farm jobs are adapted to suit them, and our three purpose designed buildings are calm & have lots of light and space to help them succeed.. Our staff are experienced and our ethos is clear: always be kind; work from success to success; do not confront & try not to say no; and give as much support as needed.
