The Penn & Tylers Green Residents Society (P&TGRS) was formed in the spring of 2003 from a merger of the former Penn & Tylers Green Residents Association and Penn & Tylers Green Society, both of which dated back to the 1960s. It is a body represented entirely by local people, who give their time voluntarily, and exists to better the quality of life for all the residents of the two Chiltern villages of Penn and Tylers Green.
The Society converted to a Charitable Company during the course of 2003 and it is run by a group of up to 15 Trustees who are Directors of the Company.
The Society’s objectives are to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the inhabitants of the two villages.
Among these are :
Our locality is surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Green Belt, and parts of the two villages are in a large Joint Conservation Area, so it is hardly surprising that some of the Residents Society’s objectives are concerned with conservation and wider environmental issues.
All the company’s regulatory and statutory information viz. our Memorandum, Articles of Association, Company Rules, Standing Orders, Statutory Accounts and statement of Membership are available on the Statutory Information page. The Board of Directors and key Sub-Committees, whose volunteer members undertake much of the day to day work of the P&TGRS, are also listed.

Our key areas of operation are split into sub-committees which are each responsible for their area of expertise.
Village Voice magazine is published 6 times a year and distributed to all homes in Penn and Tylers Green. With a rich seam of locally sourced articles it is 'by the village, of the village, for the village' and is the go to print source for local information. It is funded by advertising and provides an income for the society.
Woodlands is responsible for the strategic and operational management of Common Wood, Millar Wood and our village greens at Coppice Farm Road. Friends of Common Wood was launched to both encourage volunteers to participate in woodland management activities within those spaces, and to improve our income with a membership scheme.
Village Pre-School is a not-for-profit pre-school with salaried staff, but owned by P&TGRS. VPS provides a safe, nurturing educational facility for local pre-school children, many of whom are funded by the Government, although additional sessions are available for a modest fee.
Planning considers all local planning applications and comments where they feel it to be necessary to protect the local built and natural environment.
