Objectives

Our strapline is: "Standing alongside charities with small grants to make a big difference".

We are a small grant-making charity, supporting a wide range of other charities, mostly small to medium organisations, to achieve real impact with their beneficiaries.  We make grants under two objects (a) the advancement of the Christian faith and (b) any other charitable purpose not incompatible with (a).

The vast majority of grants are made under (b) so we support a wide range of organisations in field such as homelessness, social action, human rights, education, poverty, health, overseas development etc.  We also support some specifically Christian work under (a) - e.g. grants to local churches of Christian organisations, but these normally account for no more than 20% of our grantmaking.

Grants to local organisations currently focus on two countries/regions: Scotland and Yorkshire.

Activities

We give grants to support other charitable organisations.  We support quite range of organisations with small grants of £500 or so, a number of intermediate grants on around £2K to £6K and we normally make once grant of £20K each year to support something strategic.  The key role of trustees is in deciding what grants to award - mainly in response to applications received, but some grants are made proactively.
