Objectives

We are a Christian based organisation with the objective of advancing the Christian faith and its religious, moral, and philanthropic principles. We exist for the benefit of the general public in our locality, and our passion is to enrich their lives. Our beneficiaries come from a wide area in the Caerphilly/Newport county areas, and we engage with everybody and anybody.

We're particularly concerned with social justice, and giving children/young people the chance to flourish, develop and succeed. We also love fostering community, bringing people together, and linking people up so that our communities experience better cohesion and support.

Activities

We currently run three main projects, and are always looking to expand our portfolio:

  1. The CARE Project - a widely recognised project in the area which offers generous food parcels, prescription collection service, and a confidential ear/chat over the telephone. We have received major grant funding for this project, and have helped thousands of people since its launch in March 2020. The First Minister of Wales visited us in 2020 due to our success, and we have over 200 volunteers actively engaged in our work.
  2. The Caffi Caredig - This is a not-for-profit mobile catering trailer in the form of a coffee/snack bar outfit. This project is due to start in March 2021 and will be used for various "popup" events, working alongside other stakeholders and organisations. We will also be using the Caffi Caredig as a commercial venture but any proceeds will go back into the work of the charity. We are also planning to use surplus food from the food bank to stock part of the Caffi Caredig, thus having a positive impact on the environment.
  3. Apprenticeship Programme - We currently run an apprenticeship scheme which employs 2 apprentices (one of which is our Community Worker, and the other an Assistant Administrator.) For 2021, the Board of Trustees have committed to employing 3 new apprentices by February 2021, and we are also exploring some 6 month work placement opportunities for those most at risk of long-term unemployment in the area.
