Objectives

We use the positive power of food to come together & transform lives. Using surplus food we provide opportunities for people (especially those that are isolated/marginalised) to come together to learn new skills, build confidence, re-establish/grow social networks, and enable contribution through cooking and eating together, irrespective of capacities and capabilities. Our workshops, events & demos intentionally integrate diverse members of the community, volunteering helps to embed skills & lead to employment. We aim to build individual & community capacity & enhance community resilience.

Activities

We collect donated food and transform it into nutritional meals which are then distributed in a number of ways:

- community pop-up cafe

- community 'From the Hatch' takeaway service in a local park - providing good value or subsidised food to people in the park some of whom who may be in isolation

- providing good value food to local community groups, businesses, churches and individuals for events

- running workshops to help individuals build their confidence and skills in cookery, including working with the local Foodbank and its clients, and charities working with individuals with brain damage and other physical or mental health challenges

Some of our volunteers may also be in need of support, in isolation or wanting to develop their own confidence and skills, so through delivering these services they also benefit and grow as individuals.
