Our Time supports children and young people who have a parent with a mental illness. There are over 3 million children and young people living in the England in this situation and the impact on their life chances is significant. We support the whole family to address the issue and build on their strengths to develop resilience in the the children. Without support evidence suggests that as many as 70% will go on to have a mental health difficulty by their late teens. But, with early intervention these children and the families can develop the capacities to overcome the adversities they face. We aim to create safe environments where the children and young people can get the support they need wherever they turn up.
1. We train local teams to run multi-family workshops called KidsTime Workshops
2. We train and equip schools to recognise and support the 20% of school population who have to deal with this issue
3. We train professionals to recognise and support these children and their families
4. We advocate for this large but hidden group to get public policy recognition for their cause
