Objectives

Our Moon: Educating young minds; creating extraordinary Africans Our Moon Education is a small education charity based in Zambia. We unleash the potential in high achieving, low income young people so that they can contribute, through education and personal guidance to positive social change.

Activities

Our Moon carefully selects high-achieving but low-income students, in collaboration with local and national Zambia-based charities and schools, and provides them with a holistic education programme.  Our students are extraordinary young people who have excelled in their education, despite the many challenges they have faced, but they finish school abruptly with no obvious next step. Through our Young Leaders Programme, we provide these students with a one-year residential academic course focussing on English and communication skills (Write to Speak module) and qualifications for university entrance, combined with volunteering and learning a foreign language. Students have to complete a piece of academic research and writing which is marked and assessed externally. In addition, they receive guidance with their university choices, careers and courses, and applications and 1-2-1 mentorship. Our Ambassadors of Social Change Programme aims to extend our reach by offering a shorter Write to Speak course and volunteering opportunities so that more young people develop a social consciousness and consider how to roll out what they have learnt within their own communities.
