Objectives

We are a community energy society - a community business - serving Swale (in North Kent) and Medway. We develop community-owned renewable energy, low carbon and energy efficiency projects. Our profits go to our community fund that supports projects by local charities.

We currently own a 5MW ground-mounted solar array and a 158KW commercial rooftop solar array and are actively seeking further commercial rooftop installations. Our ground-mounted array has the capacity to meet the equivalent annual electricity demand of about 1,400 homes (2019 figures) and saves approx. 1,000 tonnes of carbon per annum.

Our website lists our current projects and all of the local grants that we have made since 2017 and their impact.

Activities

We own solar arrays and oversee their management. We develop new community-owned solar, low carbon and energy efficiency projects. And we make grants from our community fund to local charities, particularly for projects that achieve social and environmental aims at the same time (eg. energy efficiency in community buildings, environmental volunteering for mental health).
