Our mission is to keep opera alive, through reaching out to new opera audiences while nurturing and developing emerging talent within the industry. 

Overview

Opera Foundry is a foundry for opera talent.  We are a small group of pre-professional and professional opera musicians based in Surrey, although our talent travels from the far corners of the South East.  We have a unique three aim approach:

1. Opera promotion and audience development
2. Training and development of emerging opera talent
3. Performance opportunities

Opera promotion and audience development

We take high quality opera and our passion for music to a variety of venues in Surrey and London, with the aim of engaging new audiences. Our aim is to reach young and new audiences whilst having the vocal standards to please seasoned opera-goers. 

Training and development of emerging opera talent

We provide our singers, repetiteurs and other industry creatives with the opportunity to develop their skills and techniques within the realm of opera.

Performance opportunity

We provide vital opportunities for all our singers, repetiteurs and industry creative to hone their skills through performing in front of audiences.  It is difficult for emerging artists to gain performance experience and we provide these opportunities to give them a step up in the professional world.

We are able to provide a high level of attention to coaching and development because of:

1. The size and quality of our music department
2. Vocal as well as musical expertise and real industry experience of our MD
3. Commitment to concert format for our formative period, giving time for individual singer development and the opportunity to try repertoire, rather than individuals just being cast in a role
