Open Strings Music (OSM) is a Brighton-based not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We provide participatory music opportunities for people of all abilities and backgrounds to connect and create through making music together. We do this by running music workshop projects for people to access, learn and play stringed instruments in groups, as well as play together using other sound sources including voice. The main aim of our activities is to promote wellbeing and social inclusion by sharing and enabling the transformative experience of group music-making.
OSM delivers projects with older people, for mental health, and with adults with learning disabilities. In 2016 OSM was commissioned by Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group for three years to create dementia-friendly music projects throughout the city.
