OPEN Ealing – an arts centre that is the focus for creative excellence, inclusion and aspiration.
Our aim is to introduce a refreshing cultural space and exciting arts programmes to the community by bringing artists, performers, art groups and residents together, promoting creativity and creating new opportunities.
Our priorities include:
We run a varied programme of workshops, performances and exhibitions.
Our workshop programme covers lectures in History of Art; Design; workshops in digital photography; music; making a mark; painting; script writing and creative writing. In addition we run holiday programmes for 8 - 14 year olds which extends their creativity to working on 3D sculptures; understanding music and learning how to interpret those feelings into paintings; stop gap animation and the like. All our workshop leaders are specialists in their own field and have experience of teaching. The level of content is often the same as that offered to first year university students.
We are currently developing intermediate and advances courses for those who want to increase their skills et and a graphic design course aimed at teenagers to help them get work experience and employment.
Our performances cover music, spoken word and theatre and we work work emerging artists as well as those who are more experienced but rarely appear locally.
Our exhibition programme is ambitious, covers all media and brings some exciting new artists to the area. We design them for pop up venues on busy thoroughfares and encourage as many as possible across the threshold to promote contemporary art.
