Objectives

One of the biggest private collections of village and rural life. The Rural Life Living Museum is a country life museum, assembled by the late Mr & Mrs Henry Jackson and now run by a charitable trust. It is pleasantly distributed over ten acres of field, woodland and barns, and comprises a large number of implements and devices marking over 150 years of farming. Many aspects of village and rural life are also displayed in realistic individual settings. There is so much to explore! Our mission is to care for the collection and get as many people to see it as possible!

Activities

Our museum of English Rural Life is open to the public throughout the year and has a lively education and community engagement programme to allow visitors to get the most from the collection. We have active volunteer groups and tenants that include a steam railway, working woodyard, blacksmith, and other rural craftspeople. We have a full event programme through the year from visits to Santa on the Steam train through to a Vintage revival with evening dancing and historical re-enactments and meetings of special interest groups such as car rallies.
