The OKF aims to improve the lives and general welfare of disadvantaged groups particularly in north east London. Our organisation has three main objectives:
(1) We run activities to reduce homelessness in the area
(2) promote the value of education among young people using music as a means of engagement, improving social cohesion and promoting wellbeing
(3) Using food as a means of bringing the community together, promote healthy lifestyle and reduce isolation.
Our activities focus on:
(i) re-engagement activities for transient/homeless people using a healthy food kitchen as hub, providing meals, signiposting etc
(ii) Cook and Eat- programme for local families struggling with economic hardship/cultural barriers
(iii) Community Choir and Dance classes run by professionals aimed at young people, many that are vulnerable to crime and anti-social behaviour.
