Ok To Be CIC works with teachers, social workers, youth workers, foster carers and adopters to build their understanding of the history of racism and the impact on children and young people. We then support the development of anti-racist practice in the relevant sectors. We work on the basis that if our children and young people are supported by adults who really understand racism there is less chance of it being perpetuated and therefore less racial harm being caused. We aim to:
Training and educating is carried out in-person or via video workshops. Thought provoking and interactive, the sessions challenge common myths and biases and build an accurate history of the growth of racism to ensure a solid foundation to build anti-racist action and practices upon.
Ok To Be CIC works closely with local Hertfordshire services and beyond to design and deliver education and training through in-person and online sessions where attendees work together to explore their relationship to racism. An environment of openness and humility is created to allow vulnerability and difficult conversations to flow freely, allowing real change to happen. Quality resources and exercises are used to provoke deep thinking and exploration of the subject. Real-life, sector-specific examples and case studies ensure the content is relatable and engaging.
