Our key role is to support the school and its leaders to improve educational outcomes for all in our community and ensure that the children and young people that we serve have the chance to achieve their full potential. We do this by working with the school leaders to set a clear vision and direction for the school that determines the key priorities to be addressed. We provide a critical friend role for the school leadership and hold them to account for the delivery of those key priorities. We also ensure that the school uses the resources we receive from the government in the best way to support the delivery of the key priorities.
The governing body is made up of a number of governors who meet regularly throughout the year, in full governing body meetings or in smaller committees who look in more detail at specific areas. Through analysis of reports, discussions with key school staff, school visits and open discussions during the meetings we are able to develop a good understanding of how the school is operating and working towards achieving the key priorities that we have all agreed.
