Nutriri* is establishing a network of groups to be the compassionate alternative to restrictive slimming clubs. Eating disorders cost the UK £15bn a year and we spend £500m to stand on scales at slimming clubs. Our services improve mental wellbeing around body image and food choices; quite the opposite to diet clubs.
We create safe spaces (online and offline) to teach mindful eating and positive body acceptance. Using peer support models, our members find their own theory of change, alongside empathy and support within the group.
Disordered eating and body dysmorphia is prevalent regardless of actual size and fitness level, we aim to help everybody feel good about their body; engaging with latest research to demonstrate that 'dietland' doesn't currently support improved mental or (lasting) physical health.
So far we have set up with seed funding from Big Lottery and participation in Lloyds Bank Dartington School for Social Entrepreneurs. Current cohort with the NatWest Business Accelerator in Bristol with office space on Avon Street.
We have proven our coaching model and hope to repeat social impact as part of a social licence/franchise pilot; setting up our first round of clubs UK wide. Our current focus: we've had small funding to facilitate an online summit in Jan 2020 and looking for volunteers to get involved.
