Nova New Opportunities is a small diverse charity with a big reach and novel approach to social change. Our aim is to raise the quality of life of our participants and to contribute to a pluralistic, cohesive society that is fairer for all. Based in North Kensington and serving its poorest wards, and those of the surrounding London boroughs, for almost 40 years, Nova is committed to working with individuals from marginalised and disadvantaged communities who are looking to develop their potential and achieve a better future for themselves. Nova brings about real and lasting change by addressing every person as an individual and seeking out ways to best support that person to reach their goals.
Nova believes that in a healthy society, nobody is left behind or excluded and all people can contribute.
Nova does two things at its core - grassroots support of our local community and the hosting of regular wider reaching dialogue and influencing events, sharing insights and lived experiences to highlight systemic injustice. Reaching over 2,500 people annually, we achieve our aims through interconnected programmes including Adult Community Education, Information, Advice and Guidance, Social Change Initiatives, and Family Programme services for families, children and young people.
We tackle issues of social, economic and educational deprivation head on. For those we serve through grassroots programming, Nova is a bridge to participation in mainstream economic and social life. Nova works as directly as possible to help individuals create tangible change in their lives, providing access to education and pre-employment support. Alongside this practical approach, we proactively encourage individuals to engage with broader community and social issues.
Regardless of background or status, we create opportunities for people to learn, grow and experience new perspectives. At our regular dialogue events, we share our insights and lived experiences to highlight systemic injustice and work towards a brighter future together.
