Objectives

We help residents of Nottinghamshire who are facing poverty, destitution and the loss of their homes

We help around 1000 clients a year by helping them manage debt, challenge benefit refusals, resolve immigration issues and fight for housing , prevent evictions and address disrepair and landlord harassment

Clients are vulnerable many have disabilities including mental health issues, others are carers, those with drug and alcohol dependency, victims of domestic violence, refugees and migrants, or homeless people and many have literacy issues.

Activities

We help people in benefits, housing, immigration, employment and debt. Work is aimed at people experiencing financial hardship

In benefits we help clients to claim benefits and to challenge decisions where claims have been refused or cancelled. We secure over 1m per year in additional benefits for people enabling them to afford essential outgoings

In debt we help people resolve unmanageable indebtedness

In housing we represent people facing eviction, we challenge where the council refuse to accommodate homeless people, we take action where tenants are being harassed or have been unlawfully evicted by private landlords or are living in disrepair.

In immigration our work is focussed on those facing destitution due to their immigration status
