New Unity is a non-religious congregation that provides a diverse community of people with the benefits of mutual support, developing a sense of purpose and meaning and a focus on oppression and suffering in the larger world.

The community undertake a wide variety of social justice and relief work to aid the oppressed, the poor, and the underprivileged.


Activities include

  • A migrant centre for legal support of indigent migrants with no recourse to public funds,
  • Financial support of a dozen local charities per year, moral stances such as being the only congregation of any kind in the country that refused to marry straight couples until we could marry everyone.
  • Public trainings for anti-oppression work
  • Community organising work in the areas of:
    • Mental health
    • Youth provisions
    • Energy standards
    • Housing repair and provision of affordable housing
    • Syrian refugee resettlement
