Objectives

We are a befriending charity and our objective is to help and support the lonely and bereaved.   Most of our beneficiaries are elderly and many are lonely and/or isolated in their homes.

Activities

1.  We provide volunteers to befriend  lonely or isolated people  by visiting them in their homes for at least one hour each week.  We are currently supporting over 120 people in this way.

2.  We run an"After Loss Club" for people who are bereaved by the loss of their partner, friend or relative.   This meets twice a week in a local venue, where people socialise with others in a similar situation and make new friends and is currently supporting approximately 50 people.

3.  We run a "Talking Tables" scheme, where 20 local venues in the Chorley area provide a table for one hour each week where lonely people can visit to socialise and make new friends.    We currently have between 150 - 200 people attending these tables.

4.  We organise at least 2 outings each year for the befriended people and their volunteers where we provide a lunch/afternoon tea/evening meal with transport if required. This gets people out of their homes to socialise with others.
