Objectives

The New Ashgate Gallery is an educational charity which was originally formed as an artists’ cooperative in 1959 and became a charitable trust in 1976.   It has a small, dedicated and experienced staff and volunteer team, supported by an active Board of Trustees, with a wide range of experience and skills.

It exists to promote the best in contemporary fine arts and craft to the broadest possible audiences through exhibitions, sales, talks and workshops which champion emerging talent and established artists and makers.

Activities

We pursue excellence in the marketplace through support to artists and makers, by exhibiting and selling their work and through professional development activities.

We organise between 25 and 35 exhibitions of work by professional artists and makers each year with a focus on quality programming and curation.

We promote the importance of the creative process for all communities through workshops, talks and outreach work.

We work in partnership with related organisations at a local, regional and national level to promote our objectives and Farnham as a Craft Town.

We offer volunteer and work experience opportunities in arts administration to students and graduates, developing their skills and knowledge
