Objectives

The Naze Protection Society (NPS) was set up to raise awareness of the threat posed by erosion to the Naze, The Walton Backwaters National Nature Reserve, the town of Walton-on-the-Naze, and surrounding communities.  It is eroding at an alarming rate.

The Naze itself is a site of special scientific interest (SSI) and home to the Naze Tower, a Grade II listed building, built in 1720 and the only remaining navigational tower built by Trinity House, as well as home to rare and protected wildlife.

Activities

Raise funds to support actions that will slow down or limit the erosion of the Naze, organise resources to employ those funds in deploying materials to achieve the objectives, developing relationships with the local community and businesses to raise awareness and support, employing the time skills of volunteers in all these activities, developing partnerships with stakeholders at local and national level to work in line with national framework or regulatory requirements.
