Objectives

Employees (and potential employees) from communities of interest (usually but not restricted to the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010) as they endeavour to navigate some of the discriminatory processes, systems and culture that may prevent them from progressing and/or being their authentic self in the workplace.

Activities

To oversee the strategic planning of the annual national day for staff networks campaign that takes place on the second Wednesday in May. The day aims to raise awareness of the support staff networks provide to employees from communities of interest (usually but not restricted to the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010) as they endeavour to navigate the processes, systems and culture that may prevent them from progressing and/or being their authentic self in the workplace.   In addition, the campaign aims to improve D&I/employment practices through the delivery of policy and support to staff networks (and wider organisation); deliver training and consultancy to the wider organisation. Encourage more UK employers to acknowledge the valuable contribution of their staff led networks through participation of the day. Raise awareness of all discrimination and the benefits of  diversity.
