My Time 4 Young Carers is a project designed to give young people time to be care free. Young Carers are children and young people who provide care and assistance for another family member. So often they are unrecognised and unsupported. These young people regularly carry out substantial or significant caring tasks. They assume a level of responsibility usually associated with an adult, in order to help a parent, brother, sister or other relative who suffers from physical or mental ill health. We provide fun activities for young people who live in and around Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley, so young carers have time for themselves and an opportunity to gain support from peer friendships.
We run youth clubs for young carers between the ages of 7-16 years, plus arrange holiday activities during the school holidays. Everything is free of charge and we are supported by volunteers, who help run clubs and collect children from their homes. During the COVID pandemic, we have supported children with virtual clubs, creating a magazine with activities and maintaining reguar one to one contact with our families.
