Objectives

The MTA is a multi-award winning drama college based in North London. Our USPs include:

  • Created the UK's first accelerated learning programme for Musical Theatre performers
  • It's the only Musical Theatre course to do a 50/50, stage/screen split
  • We produce a public production at the end of every term
  • We employ a faculty of freelancers - all of whom are top industry professionals who are crucially still working in the industry
  • We operate under a clinician led whole school approach to mental health
  • We operate a college for life policy - giving our graduates ongoing support throughout their careers

Our aim is to produce professional performers within 2 years, but then to provide them with ongoing support, therefore always privileging the person above the performer

Activities

We limit our year group sizes to just 22, but give maximum tutor contact hours - 40 hours/week for 40 weeks/year.

We teach a full multi-disciplinary weekly timetable of dance (various styles), acting (various techniques) and singing (various techniques)

We base our curriculum on the annual cohort as opposed to enforcing a cohort to fit our curriculum, thereby ensuring a bespoke training experience for our students.

All of our staff, students and graduates have 24/7/365 access to a mental health clinician.

Annually we produce a play, a panto, a revue, a musical, a musical film, a short film and a showcase.

We support new writing and new writers

We give our students specialist skills to enhance their work prospects inc puppetry, voice over, cabaret, Commedia, stage combat to name a few.
