Objectives

Morecambe Bay Partnership is celebrating and safeguarding the heritage that is special and distinctive in the Morecambe Bay area and unlocking the economic, environmental and health benefits from this for the Bay’s communities. We are a unique organisation cutting across boundaries around the Bay area. We seek out, spark and shape new ideas, joining with others to deliver award winning heritage, environment, arts, and community and tourism projects.

Activities

We are delivering projects worth over £3.5m to benefit the Bay’s communities. Our portfolio of projects is diverse and includes the award-winning Bay Cycle Way, the ‘Love my Beach’ water quality campaign and our heritage showpiece, Headlands to Headspace Landscape Partnership Scheme. This is delivering community archaeology, landscape scale nature conservation, volunteering opportunities and education and training.

All our projects have come about through listening to the community and working with local partners, building on two decades of knowledge of the Bay’s communities and its special qualities.  In setting out our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance.

Morecambe Bay Partnership works to:

1) To promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Morecambe Bay for public benefit, in particular through the protection and maintenance of the bay's coastal and marine environments.

2) To advance the education of the public in the natural and cultural history, conservation, environment and management of Morecambe Bay.

3) To develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of Morecambe Bay in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.

4) To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or leisure time occupation of individuals in the Morecambe Bay area who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life.
