Objectives

Moor House School & College is a pioneering charity offering specialist teaching, therapy and residential care to children and young people with severe and complex speech and language disorders.

The beneficiaries are primarily the children themselves, drawn from many parts of the country. Indirectly their families, the local education authorities and the wider community - for example through dissemination of our research and work on best practice and our training provision for other schools.

The focus of our strategy is on helping the children achieve the best education they can within the normal school curriculum, raising their personal skills in speech and communication to their highest possible level and helping them grow in confidence and ability so that as adults they may find personal fulfilment and play a responsible part as citizens.

Activities

We provide specialist teaching, therapy and care, and specialist facilities, to meet the statemented special educational needs of our students. We monitor students’ progress regularly, liaise with parents and others, and conduct (and publish) research into teaching and therapy for children with speech and language difficulties.
