Objectives

Money Matters Credit Union has been established since 1995 and we provide affordable financial services to those who live and / or work in Luton and South Bedfordshire in the LU postcode area.

We are a financial co-operative, run on behalf of our members by a small team of paid staff and volunteers, on a not-for-profit basis

• We are not here to make a profit but to serve our customers

• Any surplus generated is returned to our members as a dividend or used to improve our services

A credit union is a community based financial co-operative which offers savings and loans and other financial services. Each Credit Union has a common bond which determines who can join.

Members’ savings are pooled together to then provide funds from which loans can be made.

We aim to promote safe savings and provide affordable lending to our members and to encourage and help them manage their money. We are committed to being a responsible lender and will assess all loans so that we do not lend more than a member can afford to repay.

Activities

We have a volunteer board of directors who meet on a monthly basis. Each director has one or more roles within the board

We also have a team of volunteers who run our collection points. They meet our members and give advice as well as deal with any transactions (savings, loans, repayments, new memberships)
