MindHealth is a recently registered charity (Number 1196846) run by healthcare professionals, for medical students.
We are working to be proactive with mental health and wellbeing rather than reactive. It is important to us that we increase the awareness of how important mental health and wellbeing is in medical students, and future healthcare professionals. Protecting mental health is not just a 'tick box activity' on a new placement or job induction. It is about being equipped and aware of tools and strategies for self care and feeling empowered to be able to reach out for support.
Our vision is to build a healthcare professional community that is proactive, equipped and empowered to manage their mental health and wellbeing, so they can achieve their full potential. We understand through experience that being a medical student is not easy. We are here to support, protect and promote the mental health and wellbeing of medical students, our future doctors, our future front line.
We want to be able to integrate mental health and wellbeing teaching into medical education in the future and work with other charities and governing bodies to be able create lasting, impactful change, as medical student mental health and wellbeing matters and is a priority too. These will be our future front line.
