Objectives

The Milton Rooms is a community venue in the North Yorkshire market town of Malton. For over 200 years the Milton Rooms and Subscription Rooms have been at the centre of cultural life for the people of Malton and the surrounding area. We stage music, from folk and jazz to classical and choral, professional and amateur theatre and participatory activities such as Musical Memories and Vintage Dance.

In addition to its arts programme the Milton Rooms is the venue for public meetings, private parties, the monthly Food Market and other events. Malton Museum shares our building.  We estimate that over 20,000 people use the Milton Rooms each year.

The aim of the Milton Rooms is to further develop as an Arts and Heritage Centre for the south of Ryedale.

Activities

In order to meet our objectives we provide a programme of music, theatre and arts activities for the people of Malton and the surrounding area..

We maintain the Milton Rooms building and make it available to individuals and organisations to use for events.  This provides an important facility in the town while bringing in much-needed hire fees.

Half our building was built in 1814 and the other half in 1932 - all of it listed.
