Objectives

Milltown Community is a small Camphill community in rural Aberdeenshire that provides Housing Support and Care at Home and Day Services for adults with disabilities. The people with disabilities who live in Milltown Community can benefit from a supportive living environment where they share their lives with others and take part in activities in the local area. The people with disabilities who come to Milltown Community each day for day services can take part in a variety of group activities and develop their skills in a sheltered work setting.

Activities

Milltown Community has two houses in which 7 adults with learning disabilities have tenancies. The tenants are supported by teams of  Support Workers who work on a rota basis. The tenants are supported to develop their social skills and independence skills in a shared living setting. The tenants can take part in the Milltown Day Workshop and to attend training courses in the local Day Centre or to attend courses at local Colleges. They are supported to join in with events and activities in the local area and encouraged to keep up contact with their families, to make new friends and to follow their interests on their free days. Adults with a range of disabilities and support needs can attend the Milltown Day Workshop where they work alongside others in purposeful work activities in craft workshops, in the gardens or on the smallholding.
