We are a grassroots organisation dedicated to creating and strengthening the community in the Mildmay area of London. Mildmay is home to a diverse population: old and young, rich and poor, and from a huge range of ethnic backgrounds. This is a potential source of great strength, but can also create tension, alienation and division. The Mildmay Community Partnership exists to build bonds between the different groups in our community so that they can learn from and help each other, and together build a strong foundation for their children. We work by creating opportunities for the different groups to mix and co-operate, through events and activities focused on the arts and the environment.
In the centre which we run, we host a range of activities for all ages, from indoor bowls to capoeira for children. We also have a recording studio, a community garden, an organisation which helps victims of torture and a theatre group which works with care-leavers. We organise paries and events for the local community, and provide a range of services such as IT and ESOL classes.
