Objectives

Middlesex Association for the Blind aims to support people who are blind and partially sighted to lead independent lives. The Association achieves this through the local provision and delivery of a range of high quality services, advice and information, to people across nine London Boroughs

Activities

Middlesex Association for the Blind provides a Home Visiting Service which supports over 400 people across 9 London Boroughs.
Our Rapid Response Counselling service provides emotional support to those who are having difficulty coming to terms with their sight loss.
We have a Mobile Resource Unit, a converted motorhome which visits various venues throughout the 9 Boroughs in Middlesex, providing information, advice and an opportunity to try and test specialist equipment for those who have a visual impairment.
We have an Employment Service which helps those who have a sight loss to start or resume their career. The service provides support for those seeking or applying for jobs, including help with CV preparation, covering letters and interview skills, as well as advising on potential opportunities for employment and career development.
Our IT Digital Accessibility service provides support and training for people with visual impairment, helping them make the most of their devices, connecting them to others and helping them access information online.
Middlesex Association for the Blind also provides Braille training, a biannual Outlook magazine which is distributed to some 1500 homes. We are agents for the British Wireless for the Blind Fund and provide specially adapted radios to people who are sight impaired. We offer holiday grants and also run VIP Clubs in most of our boroughs, allowing people to get together, have a cup of tea and get to know other people with sight loss.
