Objectives

We're a little bit unique. We are a Social Enterprise that runs a garden centre, garden shop and cafe. All the profit goes towards providing horticultural therapy services across Southampton. We sell plants and associated gardening products to the general public. Our nursery also provides a nurturing environment for people with mental health issues and learning disabilities, enabling them to take positive steps to improve their wellbeing by volunteering, or by attending some of our sessions - art therapy, dementia cafe, Men's Shed for veterans. Each year we support over 1,000 people who struggle with their mental health - loneliness, anxiety, low mood - or through volunteering to give something back through gardening, plants, and greening their environment.

Activities

We run 10 programmes across Southampton working with residents to design and build flower beds and planting schemes together - improving their local environment, but also making friends and building something that residents are involved with and keep going. We run events - dementia events, art classes, the cafe is a social hub for locals, walkers, families.

Our plant centre is known locally for the quality of our stock and our gardeners who are themselves former volunteers who have perhaps also struggled with their own mental health. We have been in existence since 2009 and have big plans for our future.
