Objectives

•   The Marr-Munning Trust is a grant making charity that exists to reduce poverty and its impact in some of the poorest places in the developing world.  We currently fund projects with a total value of more than £1m in:

o    the Indian Subcontinent,
o    South East Asia, or
o    Sub-Saharan Africa.

•    Our grants fund community projects that support poor and disadvantaged people to find their own routes out of poverty by providing them with:

o    good quality education for children  and / or
o    effective skills training for adults which will directly increase their ability to earn a living for themselves and their families.

Activities

Each year we award grants totalling more than £300,000 to charities/NGOs to tackle poverty outside the UK.  We carefully assess every application we receive to ensure our funding will have the best impact possible.  We also receive monitoring reports about the grants we have awarded – and this helps us to understand the effect our funding has had as well as helping us to improve our grant making process

Our income comes mainly from property that we own as well as other forms of investments.

We are a small organisation and we have recently gone through a period of modernising our governance and operations.  This process will continue during the next year as we review our investments to ensure they will continue to generate a good income to support our charitable work in the long-term.
